June 9, 2015 – Paint Progress – Part 1: Interior
Bill has begun applying the first coats of paint to the interior of the car. The dash and the steering column both get painted white, while the door panels and the “A” pillars are painted a light blue. The frustrating thing is that the restoration books, the internet, and the color samples I’ve gotten from various suppliers disagree on the exact colors. After going back and forth, eventually I settled on a color combination that seemed to most closely match the way the car was originally. I pulled those color codes for Bill and he gave them to his supplier, so for better or worse, these are the colors the computer kicked out.
I know the exterior color is correct, we spent some time matching it properly, but the two interior colors may be off. The thing is, I don’t really care – they look awesome, and that’s what’s important to me.
It’s exciting to see paint start to go on; it gives me hope that I might actually finish this thing…
