February 2015 – Stripping Progress
The task for the month of January was to strip the interior as much as possible to get the car ready for paint. Of course, I’d wanted to have this done a year ago, but life got in the way. Frequently over the past year I’ve wished I could live in the alternate reality those car restoration shows have created. You know, a world where a car can be restored in a week? Or a month? That’s not the way it works in my backyard. Maybe, and that’s a big maybe, if I worked on the car 8 hours a day for a few weeks I could make that kind of progress, but the way things usually go, I have most of the day Saturday to do as much as I can, and that’s it. (Note from the future: at the time I was working at the ADM every Sunday.)
So while it seems like a slow process, I have to keep reminding myself that I really only work four days a month. As of the first weekend in February, I’m pretty much done stripping the interior. Every time I go out there I find something else I’ve forgotten to remove, but I’m pretty close. Take a look!
